Casa - for Katie

One more from Casa Aleluya in Guatemala

Each morning during my week at Casa we started our day with a personal devotional time.  We'd all grab our Bibles and a cup of coffee, and trot off to pick a quiet spot to reflect and study our scripture selection for the day.  The walls all around Casa are filled with paintings and scriptures verses.   This one, with a larger than life Jesus as our shepherd held a special place for Katie, our group leader and here is where she sat each day.

As a thank you to her, and for all she gave in both leadership and friendship to each of us, I did this sketch.   Everyone signed one of the concrete blocks on the wall and it we presented it to her on our last evening.

Esperanza After

"Mission" Accomplished!!

It was a great week at Casa Alleluya in Guatemala and the girls of Esperanza dorm loved their new look.  I had an amazing team of painters who helped me create colorful and inspiring walls.  Extra thanks go to Brittany, Kristen and Melanie for going above and beyond to make this idea come to life!

Esperanza Before

Dear friends and followers:

I will be unavailable (both by phone and e-mail) until June 22nd .

I am so excited to be one of a team of 17 women from my church that will be on a mission trip to Guatemala.  We will be working at Casa Aleluya, home to over 500-orphaned children.  Our group will be spending time primarily with the teenage girls.

I’ve also been asked to lead the team in re-painting the dorm “Esperanza” for the 10-13 year old girls.  I’ve attached some “before” pictures and will look forward to sharing the “after’s” when I’m back.

Please keep all of us in your prayers over the next two weeks.
Many thanks, Barbara

Edmond, Oklahoma

Edmond, Oklahoma

Just completed #3 for Sarah Coll.  It is such a treat to document their family’s history of homes.  This one in Edmond, Oklahoma!  This house holds sweet, sweet memories even though they only lived there for a year.  I was tempted to add a tornado in the sky, but held back and opted for the clear big sky of Oklahoma… OK!

Creekside Village of the Woodlands

Home in Creekside Village in The Woodlands

I am always happy to donate my work to charity auctions.  This architectural illustration was done for the lucky winner of the silent auction for Breast Cancer Charities of America.  Thank you to Erica Johnson, your amazing staff and the many volunteers for your service and good works for such a worthy cause.

I have been a member of TWUMC since 1998 and there have been many happy memories for me at this church… but the best, by far, is 9 years ago today I married the love of my life, Chuck McGregor!   We are living the dream!

College Park High School

 Congratulations Graduates!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most.  We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and famous?'  Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God, Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us.  And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."     Nelson Mandela
