Crested Butte Winter Retreat

I hope you enjoyed the Lenten series of watercolor, it was fun for me to try something new, and there'll be more to come...but now it's time to share some more homes!   I thought a good transition would be a watercolor of a home!!

Robin and Drake spent a winter holiday at this charming home in Crested Butte, Colorado.  It's in the Pitchfork neighborhood, just a little bit up the mountain from the ski resort.   They thought it would be a great thank you gift for their hosts and I had never drawn or painted snow before so I was excited about a new opportunity so I tried it both ways just for fun!

HE IS RISEN!

Luke 24:1-6

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!"

Rejoice!!  He is Risen, Indeed!!

It is Finished

Luke 23:44-46

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured: and the veil of the temple was torn in two.   And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT." Having said this, He breathed His last.

Today we pause to remember your sacrificial love
That shone light into the darkness
That bore life from such emptiness
That revealed hope out of devastation
That spoke truth through incrimination
That released freedom in spite of imprisonment
And brought us forgiveness instead of punishment.

Thank you that we can now walk in the light of your life,
Hope, truth, freedom and forgiveness,

This day and everyday.

Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem

Matthew 21: 7-9

They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and He sat on them.  Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before Him and that followed Him were shouting

“Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!”

"Triumphant Entry" can't even begin to explain the energy and excitement in the crowd that day... the Savior they had waited for... for hundreds, if not thousand of years had finally come!
Just imagine how you would feel if you happened upon that scene an hour after Jesus had gone through... you just missed it.  That pit in your stomach... you'd feel like you had just missed a once in a lifetime opportunity...

But that's not the way it is.  That is why we call it "The Good News"... you haven't missed it!  Over two thousand years later, you can still choose to follow Jesus and experience "the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding" Philippines 4:7a

Show me the way!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.

I just love google maps...when I think I know the way, and yet find myself lost and confused, I just open the app on my phone and it will tell me what I need to do to get back on the right road.

We all consult books everyday.  For pregnancy, for decorating, for a new recipe or looking for places to visit when we travel.  We have books for business and every imaginable hobby.  I've recently been reading up on watercolor painting techniques!

But, The Book that has the best instruction for us is the Holy Bible.  In the past six years, I've learned so much by participating in Bible studies and I marvel that the stories and themes from Jesus' day to  3000 years ago are just as relevant today.  When I feel lost or confused, I know that The Bible will show me...
the way...the truth... and the life.

Texas Bluebonnet

Luke 12:27-28

Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, . . . how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! . . .

I've lived in Texas now for over 35 years and one of my favorite times of the year is when the bluebonnets pop out all over.  It's a sure sign that winter is gone and spring has arrived.  From the roadside green space driving through The Woodlands to the blanketing of acres upon acres in the fields in the Hill Country... it's a site (and a fragrance!) to behold.  And to think that amongst all the beauty of God's creation, He loves us more than anything.
